The Gender and Development Office, Political Science Program and the College of Social Sciences of University of the Philippines Cebu is sponsoring the launch of the book “PANAGKUTAY: Anthropology Interfacing Theology in the Mindanao Uplands (The Lumad Homeland)”. This will be on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the UP Cebu Performing Arts Hall from 2:00-5:00 PM.

The author of the book, Brother Karl M. Gaspar, CSsR, will share his experience as an engaged anthropologist with the “Lumads” in Mindanao.

The activity will be valuable for educators, students and people engaged in development work as it taps history in trying to understand the roots of the present predicament of these indigenous peoples in Mindanao, and details as well the complexities involved at the ground level in helping specific communities assert their right to ancestral domain.

The Book Launch is jointly sponsored by the Political Science 163, Social Science 1 and Social Science 5 Classes, the College of Social Sciences, the Gender and Development Office, and the UP Political Science Society.
