One of the country’s outstanding young scientists and an expert in the fields of Plant & Animal Science, Ecology, and Biochemistry will share his knowledge through a lecture in UP Cebu this Monday, March 31, 2014.
Dr. Grecebio Jonathan Alejandro will discuss on Molecular Phylogenetics and DNA Barcoding: Studies of the Thomasian Angiosperm Phylogeny and Barcoding Group at the university’s Audio Visual Room 2 at 1:30PM.
Alejandro is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences & The Graduate School and the director of the Office for Graduate Research (OGR) in the University of Santo Tomas.
His research interests are systematics and taxonomy, molecular phylogenetics, biodiversity, and biogeography of Philippine flora, DNA barcoding of Philippine medicinal plants, collaborative studies on the phytochemistry and biological potentials of endemic and indigenous Philippine plants.
His pioneering works include the study of plant molecular phylogenetics in the Philippines and the development of Philippine Rubiaceae Interactive Database.
The lecture is organized by the UP Cebu Central Visayas Studies Center (CVSC) in coordination with the Biology Program of the Sciences Cluster.
