The University of the Philippines Cebu Mathematics and Statistics Program (MaSP) conducted a free two-day training-webinar entitled “Training-Webinars on Survey Sampling” on 26-27 July 2021, 9AM-12NN. The webinar was broadcasted via Zoom and Facebook Live
The College of Science Dean, Prof. Nelia S. Ereno, graced the event by her opening remarks. Invited resource speakers from the University of the Philippines Los Baños Institute of Statistics shared their expertise in survey sampling. Asst. Prof. Mara Sherlin D. Talento shared her lecture on “Basic Concepts of Survey Sampling Using R” and conducted a demo in using the R software on implementing sampling procedures on the first day of the webinar. Dr. Dalisay S. Maligalig presented her lecture entitled “Milestones and Advances in Survey Sampling” by highlighting the evolution and developed survey sampling procedures used for today’s advanced research works. Prof. Natividad D. Estillore, MaSP coordinator, concluded the event by her closing remarks.
There were 126 participants and 114 participants in day 1 and 2 respectively. Participants of the events come from various SUCs, research institutions, LGUs, and private agencies across the country. All of the participants were given e-certificates for the event.
The event was organized by the statistics faculty of MaSP, Asst. Prof. Jacque Bon-Isaac C. Aboy and Asst. Prof. Ma. Salvacion B. Pantino served as the moderators of the webinar while Asst. Prof. Ian Jay A. Serra and Asst. Prof. Jun Francis B. Maldo served as the webinar coordinators.
