The University of the Philippines Cebu signs a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Asosasyon ng Mga Dalubhasa, May-Hilig at Interes sa Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas (ADHIKA ng Pilipinas, Inc.) on April 4, 2024 at the UP Cebu Board Room.
Attending on behalf of ADHIKA ng Pilipinas were board members Kristoffer R. Esquejo, PhD (President), Ma. Alena N. Macasil, PhD (Vice-President – External), and Ma. Rita Lordes A. Alfaro (Treasurer). Representing UP Cebu were Chancellor Atty. Leo B. Malagar, Patricia Anne G. Nazareno, PhD (Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs), and Hazel A. Trapero, DIT (Vice Chancellor for Administration).
The MOA signing signifies the collaborative efforts between ADHIKA ng Pilipinas, Inc. and UP Cebu in organizing the “35th Pambansang Kumperensiya sa Kasaysayan at Kalinangang Pilipino” scheduled on 28-30 November 2024. The conference theme, “Gumuntang: Mga Kalakaran sa Kasaysayan at Kalinangang Pilipino Noong Ika-19 Siglo,” aims to delve into the complexities of Philippine history and culture during the 19th century. This collaborative effort is intended to foster scholarly discourse, promote heritage appreciation, and encourage environmental stewardship among participants.
The conference agenda encompasses paper presentations, visits to local Historical Sites of Cebu, and Tree Planting activities. These components aim to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of Philippine history, culture, and environmental conservation efforts.
ADHIKA ng Pilipinas, Inc. stands as a cornerstone in the realm of national historical societies in the Philippines. Through its annual conference, ADHIKA brings together scholars, educators, and students from across the nation, fostering learning opportunities through research presentations and publications derived from conference proceedings.
