On August 1, 2024, the University of the Philippines Cebu (UP Cebu) and Siquijor State College (SSC) formalized an academic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This partnership aims to foster collaboration in various academic and research areas, enhancing both institutions’ educational and research capabilities.
The Memorandum of Understanding, effective for five years from the date of signing and with the possibility of extension, focuses on collaborative efforts in different fields such as research and creative works, research methodologies and ethics, and intellectual property among others. These initiatives are intended to promote academic excellence and expand the institutions’ research and educational activities.
Chancellor Atty. Leo B. Malagar, Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Director Prof. Aurelio Vilbar, Science Research and Training Center Director Asst. Prof. Percival Forcadilla, and UP High School Principal Asst. Prof. Kim Bondoc represented UP Cebu and SUC President Dr. Steven Sumaylo appeared for SSC during the MOU signing.
