The University of the Philippines Cebu proudly congratulates Atty. Kristian Jacob Lora, a graduate of BS Computer Science from the Class of 2013, for being honored as the first Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Human Rights Awardee for Visayas. The recognition was conferred during the awarding ceremony at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, on December 5, 2024.

Also named as recipients of the inaugural IBP Human Rights Awards along with Atty. Lora were Atty. Edre Olalia for Luzon and Atty. Antonio Azarcon for Mindanao, showing that lawyers from across the country are being recognized for their work in defending human rights.

Atty. Lora’s inspiring journey reflects the values of honor, excellence, and service that UP Cebu instills in its students. As the Visayas awardee, he embodies the university’s commitment to developing leaders who champion justice and the rights of marginalized communities. Among his most notable achievements are his tireless efforts in securing justice for the Escalante 6 and Himamaylan 3, political detainees who faced fabricated charges. His strategic legal defense led to their acquittals and highlighted his dedication to upholding human rights despite immense challenges.
