In a landmark move for regional healthcare development, the University of the Philippines Cebu (UP Cebu) and Chong Hua Hospital (CHH) formalized a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on April 2, 2025 at Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue. The agreement creates a dynamic bridge between academic innovation and clinical excellence.
The partnership will focus on joint initiatives tackling pressing public health challenges, development of short-term courses in emerging fields including healthcare data management and public health policy, faculty and student exchange programs to enhance practical learning, and collaborative projects addressing regional healthcare needs.
The signing ceremony brought together UP Cebu Chancellor Atty. Leo B. Malagar and Chong Hua Hospital President Dr. Helen S. Po, along with key officials and administrators from both institutions who will drive the partnership’s implementation.
Embracing UP Cebu’s committment to honor, excellence and service, this alliance merges academic rigor with clinical innovation to create transformative healthcare solutions for the Visayas region. The partnership will initially develop specialized training programs and research projects, with the first collaborative initiatives launching within the academic year.”
