Master of Education Program



1. The Master of Education program (M.Ed) is a graduate program for the following:

• BEEd or BSE graduates

• School administrators with Bachelor’s degree

• Faculty members or prospective faculty members who wish to increase their professional preparation through further studies in areas relevant to teacher education.

2. Offered on a trimestral basis and is normally completed in two years or six trimesters;
3. Offers two (2) plans or options:
Plan A
  • 34-40 units
  • Four (4) units in Research (Special Problem)
  • No Comprehensive Examination
Foundation Courses 6-9 units
Major Courses 14-21 units
Electives 3-6 units
Special Problem 34-40 units
TOTAL 34-40 units
Plan B
  • 36-40 units
  • No Special Problem
  • Comprehensive Examination required
Foundation Courses 6-9 units

4. Offers seven (7) major options or fields of specialization

Financial Information

Since the University is supported by the State, the government subsidizes part of the educational costs. In addition, the charges to be borne by the student may be substantially reduced by:

 a) Grants-in-aid;

b) Enrollment privileges provided by the University or by various scholarships; and,

c) Other grants

However, to qualify for such grants or scholarships, one has to be first a bonafide student of the program.

1. Accomplish the UP Cebu M.Ed Application Form

2. Pay Processing Fee PHP 250.00 to:

(if asked for a mobile number, please provide your own mobile number)

(1) Please double-check and make sure you pay the processing fee to the aforementioned account name and account number. Make sure that you forward the Confirmation of Payment for the application.
(2) Put “UP Cebu” in either the First or Last Name on the form/s.
(3) The processing fee is non-refundable.

 3. Email the following documents to [email protected]:

3.1 Scanned copy of accomplished UP Cebu M.Ed Application Form
3.2 Proof of payment of processing fee (image or screen shot of confirmation of payment)
3.3 Scanned copy of Transcript of Records (TOR).

4. Have two (2) referees (former professors and/or immediate supervisor) fill out the UP Cebu M.Ed Recommendation Form; and

Please make sure that your referees will send their recommendation letters to the email address listed above)

5. Wait for a confirmation email from the M.Ed. program for further instructions.
