Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary and former UP System President Alfredo E. Pascual visited the University of the Philippines Cebu on May 24, 2024. UP Cebu officials, faculty, and staff warmly welcomed his arrival, reflecting his lasting impact on the university.
Sec. Pascual’s visit began with a tour of the Administration Building and a photo opportunity with the UP Cebu community at the Centennial Gratitude Wall. His final leg of the visit was the Bagong Pilipinas Visayas Town Hall meeting held at the Performing Arts Hall (PAH) where he had a stakeholders dialogue with other DTI officials and panelists.
Furthermore, DTI Undersecretary for Communications Jose Edgardo G. Sunico also visited the UP Cebu FabLab. The Fabrication Laboratory or FabLab was established as a partnership between the university and DTI back in 2016. Its target beneficiaries are Micro, Small, & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), creatives, start-up companies, and students providing them services and access to computer-based and digitalized mechanisms of design and manufacturing.
