The Special Recognition in Digital Innovation at the 7th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards 2019 was presented to the FireCheck Project.
The FireCheck Project, an Urban Fire Hazard Mapping and Fire Spread Modelling, is a proactive initiative that aims to outsmart fire disaster through providing emergency fire responders and officials, strategic planners, and policy-makers with a wealth of information that they can use for fire disaster assessment and risk evaluation.
FireCheck is the first-ever recipient of the new Special Recognition in Digital Innovation award by the said award-giving body. UP Cebu Chancellor Atty. Liza D. Corro accompanied project leader Prof. Aileen O. Vicente in accepting the honour, together with UP Cebu Supervising Science Research Specialist, Chito L. Patiño, and Ariadne Victoria S. Pada, Senior Science Research, DOST- PCIEERD. PropertyGuru’s director of agent and developer products Jason Gregory presented the honour.
The project is funded by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST PCIEERD) and implemented by the University of the Philippines Cebu under the umbrella of the UP Cebu Central Visayas Center for Environmental Informatics.
The FireCheck Project is also set to address the region’s senior industry figures from more than a dozen property and technology markets in Asia-Pacific at the PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit (ARES) which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand in November 2019.
FireCheck will be underlining its efforts on technology education, and other technological or practical innovations we are working on that may impact the Philippine building sector.
