To commemorate and honor the memory of the University’s best and brightest who struggled against dictatorship and despotism, the University opens this year’s UP Day of Remembrance with the theme, “Dambana ng Gunita: Mga Hulagway ng Pagkamulat at Kabayanihan 1972-1986.”

In solidarity of Dambana ng Gunita, UP Cebu CCAD will showcase 1081 on its’ third year. 1081 is an interactive exhibit in commemoration of the victims of Martial Law, declared by former president Ferdinand Marcos on September 21, 1972 with Proclamation No. 1081.

On its third year, the exhibit will be showcased digitally via 1081: Interactive. Retrospective. The exhibit ran from 21 September – 25 September 2020 and was broadcasted through their official Facebook Page: 1081 Exhibit

Other activities lined up for this year’s Day of Remembrance:

On Monday, 21 September, 7PM was a Panel Discussion on “Reviving Consciousness, Reactivating Voices” with Ramon Guillermo and Noe Santillan. On Wednesday, 23 September, 7PM was a lecture on the “Perspectives & Insights on the Teaching of PS 21″ with UP Diliman’s Karlo Mongaya To end the week, on Friday, 25 September, 7PM is BALAKA Literary Reading. This event was rescheduled on 02 October due to emergency maintenance activities from an internet provider.
